As an affiliate member of the American Association of Medical Society Executives (AAMSE), Guardian Publishing representatives have participated in the group’s Annual Conferences, where Guardian principal and author David Mandell, JD, MBA has introduced dozens of medical societies to the free educational materials that can be provided by Guardian to enhance membership value.

A Senior Director of a county medical society in Texas met Mandell at the 2014 AAMSE Annual Conference in Louisville, KY. They discussed ways that Guardian’s articles, books, live presentations and webcasts could help the medical society provide educational benefits to their physician members.

After several follow-up discussions with the Guardian team, the county medical society has implemented these materials and programs offered at no charge to the society or the individual physician members:

• A 2014 issue of the society’s bimonthly journal published Fringe Benefit Plans: Valuable Planning Tools, an article co-authored by Mandell and Carole Foos, CPA, featuring strategies for reducing taxes and building retirement savings.

• In January 2015, David Mandell presented the webinar Ideas to Reduce 2015 Taxes for Texas Physicians exclusively for members of the medical society. More than 50 physicians attended the live weeknight session or viewed the recorded session on demand at a later date.

• As part of a Business of Medicine series sponsored by the medical society, Guardian author and OJM Group Director of Financial Planning Michael Lewellen, CFP®, traveled to the society’s Texas headquarters in May to present Insurance Planning 101: Understanding Life, Disability and Long Term Care Insurance. The lecture offered valuable planning tools for the society’s physician members in all stages of their medical careers.

In addition to the educational information, journal readers and attendees of the webinar and live presentation were provided with free copies of Guardian’s books for physicians (available in hard copy and ebook formats for Kindle and iPad), including For Doctors Only: A Guide to Working Less and Building More plus additional titles written specifically for dermatologists and orthopaedic surgeons.
